Supporting the Great Barrier Reef

GoodWe are proud to support the ongoing work of Great Barrier Reef Legacy (GBRL), in preserving the future of this natural wonder of the world and an Australian icon.

In 2023, GoodWe participated in the Forever Reef project by donating a 15kW battery storage system as part of a 22.5kW solar system, to power the World's First Living Coral Biobank and ensure a reliable power source to the facility in the event of a power outage. Led by Great Barrier Reef Legacy, the Forever Reef initiative aims to protect coral species for future generations and combat the impacts of climate change.

The donated system comprises high-performance 415W Titan solar panels from Risen, GoodWe's ET 3-phase high voltage inverter, and Lynx F Series high voltage Battery, made possible through the facilitation and installation expertise of Solenergy group. These components work together seamlessly to provide the Biobank with efficient energy independence, enhanced self-consumption, and comprehensive storage options. Notably, the system goes beyond carbon neutrality to achieve carbon positivity by generating more energy than it consumes. Therefore, it will also help to minimise the Biobank’s carbon footprint and make it a true sustainable operation.

This year, GoodWe invited the GBRL team to join its education initiative called “EcoSmart Kids”, to deliver a series of roadshow events across Victoria to inform and inspire children about climate change, renewable energy and positive environmental messages. This additional collaboration provided a new element to the workshop, to deliver awareness about the importance of protecting the Great Barrier Reef - one of the largest and most complex natural systems on Earth.  You can watch this new workshop here:

Looking to the future, GoodWe will feature GBRL and the Forever Reef, in a TV feature to air on the 9 network in early 2025, and are also finalising a new, donated solar and energy storage system, again in collaboration with Risen and Solenergy Group, to power GBRL's "Scuba Shack" - a storage facility for their expedition equipment, to provide 24/7 climate control for specialist dive equipment, charging facilities, and coral reef storage tanks.  Please stay tuned to this page or follow GoodWe Australia on social media for news and updates, as we continue to support this amazing endeavour.
